Sell More Books with Kindle Instant Preview

In this video we’re going to talk about a
new smartphone feature that will help you get more sleep, and an attractive new tool
that lets readers preview books on your website without having to download a sample to their
ereaders or phones. Stay tuned. Hey guys, I’m Michael La Ronn and it’s Saturday
which means it’s time to talk publishing industry news of the past week and the effects it will
have on us as authors. But first, this week’s news episode is sponsored
by the 2016 Indie Author State of the Union. It’s the only book of its kind on the market
that recaps all the important publishing industry news into an easy-to-read, actionable format.
If you’re ready to expand your knowledge of the entire publishing industry, this is the
next book you need to buy. You can get your copy today by clicking the YouTube card above
my head or by clicking the link in the description depending on where you’re watching this. First news item is a smartphone feature that
may help you get more sleep. Amazon, Apple, and Android devices are coming equipped with
a new feature that changes the display of your phone at night to filter out the blue
light. On Apple it’s called Night Shift, on Amazon Fire Tablets it’s called Blue Shade,
and on Android devices there are various apps such as Twilight and Lux that will help you
filter out blue light. There has been a lot of news coverage about
sleep cycles and cell phone use lately. Turns out if you use your phone before bed, the
blue light frequencies in the phone’s display can interrupt your sleep patterns. I do all of my reading exclusively on my smartphone.
I read at least 1-2 books every week. And I read for several hours on end, usually at
night. I can tell you with 100% certainty that I have felt more tired since I bought
my smartphone compared to when I didn’t have one. Keep this in mind when it’s time to upgrade
your phone. This is a relatively new trend, and it’s still uncertain what positive health
impacts these features will have, but keep it in mind when it’s time to upgrade your
phone. For the second news item,, Amazon announced
a new tool called Kindle Instant Preview that lets you embed the Kindle sample of your book
directly on your website. Let me show you how it works. As you can see, I have a sample of my book,
Android Paradox, embedded onto my book’s page. And it looks really slick too, with a call
to action and a button to send it to your Kindle app. Readers can page through your
book without leaving your website. And it’s easy to use. To set it up, go to
the Amazon product page, look on the right side of the screen for a link that says “Embed”,
then copy the HTML and paste it onto your website. I did mine in under a minute. It’s that easy.
I love this tool. So go check it out. I love Amazon, but more and more of my readers
are coming from Kobo and Google Play these days. I would love to see an app like this
in WordPress, but with customizable calls to action that let you put the logos and links
to different to all the ebook retailers. But this is still a very effective tool that
you should consider using because it will make it easier for readers to experience your
work. That’s it for news this week. Hopefully these
items will help you in your author business. If this is your first time watching, I’d love
to have you subscribe. Every week I do videos with craft, marketing, and business advice.
I also cover publishing industry news that will help you grow your author business, sell
more books, and connect with readers. I hope I can play a small part in your future success
because it’s time for you to get the author career that you deserve. So subscribe, and
I’ll see you guys in the next video. Thanks for watching.

Great stuff. How'd you get your books into Google play?

We are working to add Kindle Instant Preview to the next version of the MyBookTable WordPress plugin. That way you can have links to all the retailers.
