Navigating Bookshelf on a mobile device

Welcome to the video guide sharing
highlights and notes in an eText on a
mobile device. This video will explain how to
navigate pages and chapters, how to
magnify pages, and how to search and how to search within the book. Let’s begin by opening an eText in
the Bookshelf mobile app. To turn the pages, swipe your finger
across the screen from right to left to
turn to the next page. Swipe your finger across the screen
from left to right to turn to the
previous page. You can also navigate between
pages using the scrub bar on the
bottom of the screen. You may need to tap
the screen once to make the scrub
bar appear. Drag your finger along the bar to
navigate to the place in the book you
want to view. On the mobile app, you can view a
page that corresponds to a page
number in the hard-copy book. To navigate to a specific print page,
tap the paper icon in the bottom left
of the screen. Where the page says ‘Go to printed
page,’ enter the page number of the
corresponding page in the print enter the page number of the
corresponding page in the print
version. To navigate between chapters
open the Contents Pane by tapping
the menu icon. If you are using a tablet, the Contents
Pane may already appear at the left
of the screen. Tap the chapter heading of the
chapter you want to view. The first
page of the chapter will appear in the The first page of the chapter will

To magnify the page, place two
fingers together on your screen and spread them out to make the
page appear larger. Pinch your fingers together on the
screen to make the page appear
smaller. To search within the book, open the
Contents Pane by tapping the menu
icon. Tap inside the search bar and type
your search query. The Contents Pane will display all of
the places your searched words
appear in the book. Tap on a search result to display it in
the Book view. To clear the search click the small X
at the right side of the search bar to
remove the text. Congratulations, you can now
navigate your eText in the VitalSource Bookshelf mobile
