[ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ] IT’S GREAT TO SEE YOU.>>YOU TOO.>>Jimmy: DO YOU KNOW PICK YOUR OWN OUTFITS OR DO YOU HAVE A TEAM THAT DOES THAT FOR YOU?>>MY FRIEND ALLISON BROOKS AND I, SHE’S AN INCREDIBLE STYLIST. WE HAVE A COLLABORATION. I PUT HER THROUGH HER PACES. WE COME TOGETHER AND WE ALWAYS SORT SOMETHING OUT.>>Jimmy: DO YOU SAY SURPRISE ME I WANT TO WEAR SOMETHING THAT NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE? BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE THIS IS SOMETHING NO ONE HAS EVER WORN BEFORE.>>I’M NOT A TOTAL SURPRISE PERSON.>>Jimmy: OKAY.>>WHEN IT COMES TO WHAT WE’RE GOING TO WEAR.>>Jimmy: I SEE.>>BUT I AM A BIG SURPRISE PERSON ON OTHER THINGS.>>Jimmy: WHY IS YOUR BEARD SO CLEAN AND SHINY, BY THE WAY? I WISH I COULD GET MY BEARD THAT CLEAN AND SHINY.>>RIGHT NOW I’M USING THIS GORGEOUS SQUALING BIOSUNS BEARD OIL. IT’S A GORGEOUS BEARD OIL.>>Jimmy: THAT’S WHAT I NEED-S A GORGEOUS BEARD OIL.>>YOU NEED A SHINIER BEARD.>>Jimmy: IT’S NOT AS SHINY AS I WOULD LIKE. I LIKE TO KEEP EVERYTHING VERY CLEAN.>>WE REALLY SHOULD APPLY SOME ON THE COMMERCIAL BREAK.>>Jimmy: WILL YOU APPLY SOME OIL TO MY BEARD DURING THE BREAK?>>YES.>>Jimmy: OKAY. THAT WOULD BE GOOD. [ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ] THIS IS A TERRIBLE SEGUE NOW. BUT I DO WANT TO TALK ABOUT YOUR BOOK, WHICH IS GETTING A LOT OF ATTENTION FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS. BUT PARTICULARLY YOU REVEAL IN THE BOOK THAT YOU ARE AND HAVE BEEN FOR SOME TIME HIV POSITIVE.>>THAT IS TRUE.>>Jimmy: WHICH IS — NOW, IS THAT SOMETHING THAT YOU — A DECISION YOU WRESTLED WITH BEFORE YOU DECIDED TO PUT THAT IN THE BOOK?>>YEAH. YOU KNOW, IT WAS — I THINK AS SOON AS, YOU KNOW, “QUEER EYE” CAME OUT AND I REALIZED IT WAS BECOMING LIKE THIS MOMENT I WAS LIKE, WOW, LIKE THAT’S FUN. AND THEN I STARTED — IT STARTED TO DAWN ON ME PRETTY QUICKLY. I WAS LIKE — OVER THE COURSE OF THE TIME OF COMING OUT WE HAD AN ADMINISTRATION LIKE FIRED THE HIV ADVISORY COUNCIL IN 2017 AND HAS LAUNCHED THIS SYSTEMATIC ATTACK ON PLANNED PARENTHOOD, WHICH IS LIKE THE PLACE WHERE I HAD ACCESS TO TESTING. AND HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD I WOULDN’T HAVE KNOWN THAT I WAS HIV POSITIVE.>>Jimmy: WOW.>>YEAH. I DIDN’T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE AT THE TIME AND I NEEDED ACCESS TO TESTING. SO IT WAS — I THINK AS I’VE WITNESSED THIS KIND OF LIKE DEMONIZATION OF PEOPLE WHO DARE TO BE PREGNANT OR ENGAGE IN SEX FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD FROM I WAS LIKE I REALLY NEED TO SPEAK ABOUT THIS BECAUSE WE HAVE STATES IN THE UNITED STATES THAT HAVE NEW HIV INFECTION RATES THAT ARE REALLY ALARMING. AND IT’S SO SAD BECAUSE IT DOESN’T NEED TO BE. WHEN PEOPLE WHO ARE HIV POSITIVE HAVE ACCESS TO ATR, OR ANTI-RETROVIRAL THERAPY, WE ARE ABLE TO ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN AN UNDETECTIBLE VIRAL LOAD. AND THERE’S BEEN SO MANY STUDIES, THE MOST RECENT ONE WHICH WAS BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH LED BY DR. ANTHONY FAUCI, AND IT FOLLOWED LIKE A LOT OF SERO-DISCOORDINATE COUPLES WHICH MEANS ONE’S NEGATIVE, ONE’S POSITIVE, FOR TEN YEARS. AND NOT ONE TRANSMISSION IN THE STUDY WAS REPORTED.>>Jimmy: IF IT’S UNDETECTIBLE, IF YOU KEEP IT LOW THEN IT’S NOT TRANSMITTABLE.>>YES. SO UNDETECTIBLE EQUALS UNTRANSMITTABLE. AND THAT HAS BEEN BACKED UP BY A LOT OF STUDIES. BASICALLY WHEN YOU’RE HIV POSITIVE YOU HAVE ACCESS — YOU CAN GET ACCESS TO THIS MEDICATION AND YOU BECOME UNDETECTIBLE AND YOU CAN REALLY LIVE A GORGEOUS NORMAL LIFE. 50 TO 75 YEARS. BUT THE REAL REASON WHY I WANTED TO AUK ABOUT IT IN THE BOOK IS WHEN I WAS 25 AND GOT THIS I WAS NOT SOMEONE WHO HAD THIS PLATFORM. I DID NOT HAVE ACCESS FINANCIALLY THAT I HAVE NOW. AND THE AMOUNT OF HOOPS THAT I HAD TO JUMP THROUGH, IT WAS THE AIDS DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. IT WAS RYAN WHITE FUNDING, IT WAS MEDI-CAL. THERE WAS LIKE FOUR, FIVE, SIX LAYERS OF SOCIAL SAFETY NET THAT I HAD TO NAVIGATE AS A 25-YEAR-OLD. AND IT JUST IS NOT APPROPRIATE. LIKE PEOPLE THAT ARE FINDING OUT THAT THEY’RE HIV POSITIVE NEED A DOCTOR AND THEY NEED THEIR MEDICATION AND THEY NEED TO KNOW THEY’RE GOING TO HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR MEDICATION FOREVER BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT WHEN PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING WITH HIV MAINTAIN AN UNDETECTIBLE BIO LOAD THROUGH ART THERAPY WE ARE UNDETECTIBLE FOREVER.>>Jimmy: AND IT’S EXPENSIVE THIS MEDICATION.>>WELL, IT IS IF YOU DON’T HAVE INSURANCE. THERE IS THE AIDS DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, THERE IS RYAN WHITE FUNDING, MEDI-CAL EXPANSION PROGRAMS THROUGH A LOT OF STATES THERE, YOU AWAY TO GET IT BUT IT IS A HUGE BURDEN ON SOMEONE TO NAVIGATE THAT SYSTEM AND IF YOU DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO THOSE THINGS — YEAH, LAST MONTH I LOST MY — I MISPLACED MY BOTTLE OF MEDICATION. PP IT WAS IN NEW YORK CITY. I WAS IN PHILADELPHIA. I DIDN’T WANT TO HAVE MY PILL FOR ONE NIGHT. EVEN THOUGH I WANT TO SAY IF YOU DON’T HAVE YOUR PILL FOR ONE NIGHT IT’S OKAY IF YOU MISS IT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. BUT I DIDN’T WANT TO MISS IT. SO I WENT TO CVS AND I HAD MY PRESCRIPTION AND THEY WERE LIKE THAT WILL BE $3500.>>Jimmy: WHOA.>>WHAT DO YOU DID — AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE I HAVE ACCESS TO $3500 WITHOUT HAVING TO CALL LIKE A BUNCH OF FAMILY MEMBERS AND FREAKING OUT. BUT THAT WAS LIKE NO. IT’S REALLY A COLLECTION OF DECISIONS THAT MADE ME WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS. AND IT WAS SCARY TO — I NEVER PICTURED MYSELF SITTING HERE ON YOUR COUCH TALKING ABOUT UNDETECTIBLES EQUALS UNTRANSMITTABLE.>>Jimmy: RIGHT.>>BUT SOMETIMES — I’VE BEEN TELLING A LOT OF PEOPLE TO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER. AND I WAS LIKE I THINK I HAVE TO TAKE MY TURN TO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER.>>Jimmy: DO THAT YOURSELF. YEAH. [ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ] AND INTERESTING BECAUSE I THINK SO FEW PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THESE THINGS. AND ALSO IT’S NOT SOMETHING THAT IT’S COMFORTABLE TO ASK SOMEBODY WHO IS IN THIS SITUATION, PRY INTO THEIR PERSONAL LIVES. BUT TO LEARN THAT I THINK IS VERY IMPORTANT.>>WELL, YEAH. AND I THINK OBVIOUSLY IT NEEDS TO BE SOMEONE WHO’S WILLING TO OFFER YOU THIS INFORMATION, TO TALK ABOUT IT, BUT THAT WAS ANOTHER REASON WHY I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT IT, BECAUSE WE HAVE TO LIKE END THE STIGMA AROUND STIs AND AROUND LIVING WITH HIV. WE HAVE COME SUCH A LONG WAY IN THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY, AND IT’S INTERESTING BECAUSE THERE’S JUST NO REASON WITH WHAT WE KNOW IN THE MEDICAL ADVANCE THAT’S WE’VE HAD IN THE LAST 20 YEARS FOR ANYONE TO BE CONTRACTING HIV NOW, ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF TRUVATA OR PREP, WHICH IS PREEXPOSURE ACCESS WHICH YOU CAN TAKE WHEN YOU’RE NEGATIVE AND IT KEEPS YOU FROM CONTRACTING THE HIV VIRUS. IT’S LIKE 99% FECHKTNESS. THAT’S ONE THING I WAS TALKING TO NANCY PELOSI ABOUT WHICH IS THE PREP ACCESS AND COVERAGE ACT AND THE EQUALITY ACT.>>THIS IS SO INTERESTING BECAUSE YESTERDAY IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THAT NANCY PELOSI IS WORKING ON AND WE KNOW WHAT SHE’S WORKING ON SHE WRITES “THIS WEEK IN ADDITION TO OFFICIALLY LAUNCHING A FORMAL IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY INTO REAL DONALD TRUMP’S ABUSES OF POWER WE CONTINUE THE FIGHT TO END GUN VIOLENCE AND MET WITH @JVN TO DISCUSS THE EQUALITY ACT.” THAT’S GOT TO BE — I MEAN, THAT’S PRETTY CRAZY.>>YEAH, IT IS CRAZY. BUT I THINK WHAT’S ALSO CRAZY IS THE LACK AVENUE TENSION TO LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS IN AMERICA RIGHT NOW. SO I’M VERY HAPPY THAT SPEAKER PELOSI TOOK THAT TIME TO TALK TO ME AND I THINK REALLY, HONEY, LET’S TALK MORE ABOUT IT. LET’S JUST TALK SO MUCH MORE ABOUT IT. [ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ]>>Jimmy: NOT ONLY DID YOU SPEAK TO NANCY PELOSI. YOU GOT A CALL AFTER ANNOUNCING THAT YOU ENDORSE ELIZABETH WARREN FOR PRESIDENT, SHE CALLED YOU.>>YEAH. IT WAS A REALLY BUSY WEEK LAST WEEK. [ LAUGHTER ] IT WAS A REALLY BUSY WEEK. BUT YEAH. I JUST RESPECT SENATOR WARREN. I WAS NOT THE FIRST ONE ABOARD THE WARREN TRAIN. BUT THERE WAS SEVERAL JUST KIND OF LIKE WANTING TO WRITE THE BOOK, THERE WERE SEVERAL THINGS THAT KIND OF NUDGED ME TOWARD WANTING TO ENDORSE HER. BUT I THINK THAT THE MEDICATION THING WAS A PIECE OF IT BUT THERE’S ALSO — SHE IS AN EDUCATOR. SHE IS A POLICY EXPERT. I BELIEVE THAT SHE HAS A WAY TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE THE NECESSITIES OF WHAT WE NEED MOVING FORWARD. BUT ALSO I SHOULD JUST SAY THAT NO MATTER WHO YOU’RE SUPPORTING ON THE DEMOCRATIC SIDE, HONEY, I AM GOING TO SUPPORT THEM. I WILL CAMPAIGN FOR THEM. I THINK EVERYONE IS BETTER THAN WHO WE HAVE NOW.>>Jimmy: WOULD YOU HELP BERNIE WITH HIS HAIR?>>I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR THE BERN, HONEY. I WOULD DO ANYTHING. I REALLY SUPPORT HIM. A REALLY GOOD NOTE IS WE HAVE TO BREATHE, HONEY. WE’RE GOING TO BE MOVING INTO A LOT OF ENDORSEMENTS, HONEY. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE MAKING DECISION THAT’S WE MAY NOT AGREE WITH OR WE MAY AGREE-W HONEY, AND IT’S VERY IMPORTANT TO JUST — [ BREATHING ] FEEL THAT BREATH COMING IN YOUR NOSTRILS, FEEL THE BREATH EXITING YOUR NOSTRILS, FEEL BOTH FEET ON THE FLOOR.>>Jimmy: YEAH. WE HAVE TO BREATHE HONEY COULD BE A GOOD CAMPAIGN SLOGAN. [ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ] JONATHAN VAN NESS IS HERE. THIS IS HIS BOOK. WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK.>>Jimmy: WE’RE BACK WITH JONATHAN VAN NESS. DOES IT LOOK ISN’T THAT RIGHT? DOES MY BEARD — I FEEL LIKE IT’S STILL NOT AS SPARKLY AS YOURS.>>IT’S GOT SOME SHINE TO IT. >>Jimmy: THAT’S BECAUSE IT’S TURNING WHITE. [ LAUGHTER ]>>IT’S NICE AND HYDRATED.>>Jimmy: WELL, THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR HYDRATING MY BEARD.>>YES.>>Jimmy: I THINK THIS IS A REALLY INTERESTING THING. THAT YOUR FAMILY OWNED WHAT WAS IT, A LOCAL TELEVISION STATION, LOCAL NEWSPAPER, AND WAS THERE — >>AND A RADIO STATION.>>Jimmy: IN QUINCY, ILLINOIS C. AND DID YOU PARTICIPATE IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS?>>I WAS ALWAYS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW I WAS GOING TO TRIPLE AXEL, TRIPLE TOE LOOP MY WAY OUT OF THAT FAMILY BUSINESS. [ LAUGHTER ]>>Jimmy: I SEE.>>BUT THIS ONE TIME I THINK IT WAS AFTER THE 1994 FREEFALL CONVENTION WHICH USED TO HAPPEN EVERY YEAR IN MY HOMETOWN UNTIL THE INSURANCE RATES GOT TOO HIGH. IT WAS LIKE A SERIOUS THING. BUT THE FRONT PAGE OF THE PAPER CAME OUT AND A FEW QUALITY CONTROL THINGS HAD SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS. IT WAS 1994. THINGS HAPPENED. AND THIS GUY WAS ROLLING UP HIS PARACHUTE AND RIGHT NEXT TO HIS PARACHUTE AND THE BOOK BAG WAS HIS RIGHT TESTICLE. FULLY ON THE FRONT PAGE. ONE EXPOSED HAIRY TESTICLE. MY MOM WOKE ME UP AND SHE WAS LIKE WE’VE GOT TO GET UP, WE’VE GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE. MY MOM AND COUSINS AND EVERYONE JUST BASICALLY DIVIDED THE TOWN UP AND WE HAD TO GO CLEAR ALL THESE PAPERS OFF PEOPLE’S FRONT PORCH. WHILE THEY WERE BEING REPRINTED. SANS THE — >>Jimmy: TESTICLE. YEAH. IN A WAY IT WAS — >>BUT WE DID IT.>>Jimmy: YOU WERE THE OPPOSITE OF A PAPER BOY. IS THAT YOU WENT AND TOOK — >>YES. REVERSE PAPER BOY. EXACTLY.>>Jimmy: BOY, THAT WAS A SIMPLER TIME, WASN’T IT?>>IT WAS. YOU HAD A MINUTE. YOU HAD A BEAT.>>Jimmy: YOU TOOK A BREATH, HONEY. RIGHT? [ LAUGHTER ] [ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ] SEE THAT? I’M LEARNING ALREADY. SO YOU’RE ON THIS BOOK TOUR NOW. YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT THE BOOK.>>YEAH.>>Jimmy: YOU’RE TALKING TO PEOPLE WHO SOMETIMES I WOULD IMAGINE THAT PEOPLE COME UP TO YOU AND THEY HAVE LIKE MAYBE THEY’RE ADMITTING THINGS TO YOU, THEY’RE TELLING YOU THINGS THAT THEY’VE NOT TOLD ANYONE BEFORE.>>DEFINITELY.>>Jimmy: AND WHAT DO YOU TELL THOSE PEOPLE WHEN THEY SAY THAT TO YOU?>>I REALLY JUST SAY LIKE I’M SO GRATEFUL THAT PEOPLE FEEL SECURE TO TALK TO ME ABOUT THESE THINGS. AND YOU KNOW, I REALLY — WELL, IF IT’S ABOUT SOMETHING THAT’S SIMILAR TO ME, WHO’S YOUR DOCTOR, WHERE ARE WE GOING, ARE WE SIGNED UP, DO YOU HAVE QUESTIONS — I’M REAL PRACTICAL, LIKE LET’S GET THIS TOGETHER. BUT REALLY I THINK IT’S BEEN INTERESTING BECAUSE A LOT OF THE LIKE MEDIA COVERAGE FROM THE — I HATE TALKING ABOUT MY OWN WORK. LIKE MEDIA COVERAGE. IT STILL FEELS SO UNNATURAL. BUT A LOT OF THE COVERAGE ABOUT THE BOOK WAS LIKE DEVASTATING DIAGNOSIS. LIKE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE APPROACHED ME THAT JUST READ A HEADLINE, I’M SO SORRY THAT THIS HAPPENED.>>Jimmy: OH, YEAH.>>IT’S INTERESTING THAT IT’S –>>Jimmy: CLICK BAIT.>>YEAH, THE DEVASTATING THING CAME UP SO MANY TIMES. I UNDERSTAND WHY WE HAVE TO WRITE STORIES SOMETIMES THAT INTRIGUE PEOPLE. AND THERE ARE THINGS LIKE DEVASTATING HIV BUT ACTUALLY THAT’S LIKE ONE TINY BABY LINE IN THIS GORGEOUS 288-PAGE BOOK. AND REALLY I TALK ABOUT REALLY WHAT THIS IS IS IT’S LIKE THE STORY OF MY SURVIVAL. AND IT’S THE STORY OF LIKE MY MOM WOULD SAY LEARNING TO BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED AND THEN UPROOTING YOUR POT BUT NOT MESSING UP YOUR LITTLE ROOT SO YOU COULD MOVE TO L.A. AND OTHER PLACES. BUT HOPEFULLY BY ENDING STIGMA AND REALLY EMBRACING ACCEPTANCE MORE PEOPLE LIKE ME WON’T WANT TO ESCAPE THEIR LITTLE BABY HOMETOWNS AND THEY’LL HAVE LIKE BETTER UPBRINGINGS WHERE THEY’RE NOT GETTING BULLIED AND THEN MAYBE WE CAN TAKE THE ELECTORAL MAYBE WE CAN TAKE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE BACK THAT WAY BY NOT, YOU KNOW — [ CHEERS AND APPLAUSE ] THIS IS LITERALLY THE WAY — THAT AND THEN STATEHOOD FOR D.C. STATEHOOD FOR D.C. AND THEN KINDNESS. WE’VE GOT A PRIMARY AND A BACKUP PLAN.>>Jimmy: IF YOU CAN DO THOSE TWO THINGS YOU CAN GROW UP TO BECOME A VERY SUCCESSFUL PERSON WITH THE CLEANEST AND SHINIEST BEARD IN THE WORLD.>>YES!>>Jimmy: JONATHAN VAN NESS! HIS MEMOIR IS “OVER THE TOP: A RAW JOURNEY TO SELF-LOVE.” THANK YOU, JONATHAN WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK WITH LUCY BOYNTON.

    YES HUNNY! Speak your truth!

  2. DD Burrows says:

Sounds like Pramila Jayapal's or Bernie Sanders' Medicare for All would ensure doctor's visits, treatments and medication without worry of expense or availability would answer JVN's concerns. Unfortunately, I don't think Warren is as committed to M4A. Single payer, Medicare for All is my prime issue (as is climate-change) and it just seems that Bernie is the one that can make it happen. He understands that simply regulating the insurance and pharmaceutical companies or "bringing them to the table" just maintains their profiteering from our health vulnerabilities. I don't mean to get so political but this is such an important issue and Bernie is not taking money from anyone but small donors and Warren, already said that she would take corporate PAC and Dark money during the general. These industries will expect a return on their investments. Bernie will be beholding only to us and will lead millions to demand M4A 'cause the health-insurance industry and Big Pharma will not just roll over and say, Oh, okay.

    "but"

  10. Corpussful says:

We are living in a weird world because we all have to pretend that this is the new normal. In a politically correct world there is no room to freely express your real opinion therefore we have to continue pretending.

  11. robbie davis says:

Of course there is a stigma to HIV. WTF!

  12. Rebecca Lee says:

    This was a wonderful interview.

  13. Autumn Moon says:

Three people in my life are/were HIV+, one of which passed away 8 years ago. We had been close friends since I was 13 and we were all devastated when we found out he wasn’t just HIV+ but he had full blown AIDS and died two weeks after his diagnosis from bronchitis that turned into pneumonia. People don’t tend to think heterosexual, drug free 22 year olds also develop HIV/AIDS and without treatment can die very suddenly. Thank you so much for raising awareness, JVN! America needs to de-stigmatize the HIV community and stop attacking places that do good like Planned Parenthood. You are a national treasure and we love you!

  14. Zeta X. says:

Wait… I literally just realized people have to pay for their ART in the USA. In South Africa it is free through our public health system. 🤯 For everyone… I can go to my local clinic 5 min away, get tested and started on ARVs within an hour.

  30. Nikki Ackerman says:

  32. Corinne Shutack says:

I love how he diverted Jimmy's awkward question about his outfit with such class and deft – "I'm not a total surprise person when it comes to what we're gonna wear, but I am a big surprise person on other things…" Excellent way to not engage that question, excellent pivot.

  33. Rebecca Cass says:

    I LOVE Jonathan Van Ness!

  34. Mindy Luthi says:

I love Jonathan! I am glad he was able to get his HIV to better place. He is a great spokesperson! But I am 100% not okay with planned parenthood and other programs using taxpayer money to treat people that have medical issues that are preventable. It should be a donation only program. NO government funding at all.

  35. Shawna's Ideas says:

Can we talk about how he just discussed HIV on national television for 10 minutes and that has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE? This is so important and incredible

  60. tjpm says:

I am a christian and I just wonder to myself, why don't every country have ppl like him representing in each government. So many politicians are so out of touch with what the regular jo goes through. So if we want to be inclusive, lets have real people representing real needs in government. Hope that made sense. God bless you Jonathan, you are a gem!

  61. azshadow32 says:

I keep up on most medical research and I had not heard that undetectable viral load=no transmission. I have psoriatic arthritis and take injectables and without insurance it is soo expensive however they are not in any other countries just like AV meds.

    He's so freakin smart.

  77. Queen says:

I am a nurse who gets in contact with hiv positive people all the time & it’s saddening how the world treats them but medically speaking we’re reached a point where that’s not a problem anymore. I’ve seen people who have been together for decades and their partners never contracted hiv because modern medicine is amazing especially for HIV positive people. I’m at a point to believe that should be the least of your problems once you take such medication where it’s not detected which means you can’t transmit it to a partner. Such medication exist

  78. Gabrielle Fourstar says:

does undetectable really mean untransmissible? My understanding of HIV is that there would still be a chance of passing on the virus

The drug is expensive because pharmaceutical companies push the price sky high in America, which they do to a wide range of drugs . Which means people have to choose between illness/death or raking up debt that means they could lose their homes

  91. Vanessa Alder says:

Don't be fooled by these people pretending to care about what you are going through as an individual you're their target. I feel for you but it's their game to get your vote. You are smarter than that.

  92. Ruhee Uppal says:

GIVE THIS MAN A SHOW OR PODCAST!!!!

  93. syamsul a says:

ARV medication is free here in Indonesia but sadly there are still huge number of ppl who didn't even know what HIV is and how to access the testing facility or the medication itself. And also with such a big stigma sorronding it, it cause many hiv+ indonesian decided not to take the test and not take medication. That's why there are still many new cases of hiv transmission here. I hope that one day there will be zero transmission and scientist will find a cure for hiv, hpv and hsv all together. Amen!

  94. MJ Gautrau says:
