Books I’ll (Probably) Never Read Tag!

Hey everyone! Today I’m going to be doing the ”Books I’ll (Probably) Never Read Tag” And I’m really excited to do this because… …I don’t know, you know? I’t’s really fun to talk about the books you love and things that you really like… …and really interest you but it’s also really fun and really telling about what books you don’t care about. And like what thing you’re just not interested in. This tag was created by Marissa from littlespider9 and I love her channel. So I’m gonna link the original down the below. Definitely check it out and let’s get started. So the first confession that we have to make is a really hyped book you’re just not interested in reading. And for me that’s 13 Reasons Why. Now you maybe wondering if I’m not curious to read this book, why do I own it? Funny story. So from time to time publishers send me stuff in mail. Sometimes I ask for it. Sometimes they tell me they’re sending to me. Sometimes it’s a damn surprise. And this was one of those occasions. I got this box which was really cool. It had little popcorn and it had… … like candy in it. And it was for celebration of this Netflix show coming out. And because, you know, it was Penguin that sent it to me. They wanted to send me the book as well And I opened it and I was like [whispers] ”Oh, no” [Whispers] Oh, no. [Laughs] I’m just not interested. It’s so sad, it’s uh, mmm.. No. No. So the next confession is ”a book series you will not be finishing”. Ladies and gentlemen… Divergent by Veronica Roth. I read this ages ago. It was years and years ago. I read it back when everyone else was reading it when the hype was still fresh. And you know what? I liked it. This is not one of the situations where I don’t want… …to read the next book ’cause I hated the first book and like the series doesn’t deserve my time. I really enjoyed the first book. But I suck at waiting. Guys, I don’t if you’ve noticed but I don’t read series. And the reason is because I hate waiting. I can’t do it. Not it’s only is it painful for me to wait. Not only… …is it frustrating. I find it frustrating when I finished a book and that’s not the end, that’s not the conclusion. And I have to wait. What’s that about? Not only that. But I also like by the next book comes out I’ve forgetten. Like the important key little secret details that could come up in the next book. And I’ve just kind of, I’ve moved on. I’ve moved on. So by the time Insurgent came out I didn’t really care anymore and… …now years have past and I feel like I get it. I’m done. The next confession is ”a classic we’re just not interested in” So this is interesting because I’ve wanted to read this book like for years and I still… …kind of want to read it. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. But every single time that I look at this book and think ”Hey, I should read that.” I also simultaneously go ‘ughhh’. The beginning of this book starts with these letters. And they’re a little confusing and kind of boring and I never make the past the letters. I’ve tried picking this up a few times. And I don’t get past the letters and I don’t get to the interesting part. And now the book, when I look at it I just think of those letters. And how i’m gonna have to read the letters. And like I don’t wanna skip the letters because what if there’s something important in the letters. Maybe one day but right now probably not. Next confession is ”any genres you don’t typically read.” So I feel a little wary talking about an entire genre that I don’t want to read. Because I don’t really think it works that way. Just like music. I don’t typically listen the country music… But there are some great country jams out there. So when I say the genre I’m about the mention take it with grain of salt because I’m not saying… that I would never pick up a book from that genre or that I’ve never enjoyed a book from that genre. It’s just when I thought about this question and I really like scanned of the genres I could think of This is the one that I seemed to read the least of. And it’s supernatural/paranormal. It doesn’t connect with me. It’s really hard for me to explain. But when I try and read one of those books like books that are in that genre it is so difficult for me to accept the world. I can’t sink into it and it is really frustrating. Because I’m sure there are so many great stories in this genre. But like I said you never know. And the final confession is ”a book on your shelves you’ll probably never read” This question is so stressful because no one wants to admit that there are books on there that have been sitting there… …forever. And that will continue to sit there forever. But I took a good hard long look at my shelves and I tried to be realistic with myself and I… picked ‘My True Love Gave To Me: Twelve Holiday Stories’ edited by Stephanie Perkins. This can only be read in the winter so it already it’s got a limited time stamp on it. And then I just find myself thinking ”Do I really wanna read a short story collection?” Do I really want an anthology or would I rather like get deep into a whole new book? And I just keep not picking it up. But you never know. This could be the year when I finally read ‘My True Love Gave To Me’. One of the things I love about this tag it’s called Books I’ll PROBABLY Never Read. There is… …still a opportunity there. So that is the tag. Thank you so much to Marissa for creating it and for tagging me. I’m going to tag my friend Charlotte from Chareads. She used to have a great booktube channel and she just brought it back full force. She’s making great videos. So I’ll link her down below. Check her out. Down below let me know about -which question do I wanna ask you?- Tell me a really hyped book that you don’t care about. I just think it’s kind of scandalous and exciting and it would be fun to read your answers. I really hope that you guys enjoyed this video and I will – of course – see you in my next one. Alright, Bye. Subtitles by Sırma Çalışıcı (snasrm) [haha girl why are you such a shameless self promoter? xoxo, your editor.]

paper towns because the start was boring and the movie was so hyped yet the ending was crap.

  3. Kylie Flowers says:

I'm totally the same with book series. If I read a series all the books have to be out already.

  4. Cassie Parker says:

I'm not finishing House of Night. I loved the first book, but didn't enjoy the next two. I also won't read Illumnai or that train book everyone is talking about. Lol. I don't remember the title.

  5. AmandasAfterword says:

I 100% AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT WAITING holy moly. I usually don't pick up series unless they are finished for exactly the reasons you stated.

  6. Fabiola Andrea says:

The mortal instruments or any Percy jackson books or many series.

  12. Bitterly Fun says:

Anything by Sarah J Mass…I have issues with the book covers, her books are all series, that "ugh" feeling you get with Frankenstein I know I'd get with Sarah J Mass books. Cassandra Claire books too. They're so huge and intimidating!

  13. J says:

No interest in reading Harry Potter…….there..I said it. I just dont feel like reading 7 huge books that are complicated and have a lot of dumb, "filler" things (idk how to describe it). Honestly its so annoying how people are shocked or whatever. NOT EVERYONE LIKE HARRY POTTER ITS UNREALISTIC THAT EVERYBODY ON EARTH LOVES IT!

  14. Maria T says:

I can't wait for series either! I always miss all the hype because I wait til the whole series is released. If not I have to start from the beginning every time just to refresh! It's so frustrating that sometimes a good story idea is stretched into a trilogy instead of just one strong book just cause that's trendy and sells more.

  15. Rina L says:

I hope you read Frankenstein eventually because that book is great. I know the letters can be boring but once your past them it's awesome. 50 Shades of Grey no interest at all, not even if you paid me.

  16. Kristina says:

Okay I totally wanna do that tag on my booklr… but euhhm… cough Harry Potter .. sorry guys .. I just, idk I've falled under the hype train ..

  17. Tomes&Rosebud says:

I really wish that I hadn't finished the Divergent Trilogy; in Insurgent Tris and Four fighting (more of arguing not a full on fight but still) there are only maybe 2? scenes of that book that I even liked and absolutely hated Allegiant; forgot basically everything aside from the 2 key major things that happen at the end and I didn't even hate it for that, the dual perspectives sucked and it was SO BORING!

  18. Sarah Blank says:

Frankenstein is so great! I never cared to read it, but it was assigned in my Brit lit class and I totally loved it.

  19. Littleloezie D says:

waiting is not my strong suit either. I read mostly series that are already finished.

  20. Eden Grace says:

Omg I Literally gasped when you said Divergent because i've read the series like three times lol

  21. Holly Petals says:

Frankenstein is honestly amazing once you have analysed it! I'm studying it at university in my gothic literature module. I'm not sure how enjoyable it is on its own though :-/

    I wont read Outlander!!!

  23. mariapol17 says:

  25. Patrick. says:

Fault in Our Stars, the movie was the most depressing thing I've ever seen

  26. loquaciousreaders says:

  27. Vibhor Dwivedi says:

Why dont you listen to country music?? whyyy???

  28. Sweet Dream says:

I agree on 13 reasons why. I hear it glorifies suicide so…My mom refuses to let me even touch such a book.

  29. TheReadingWerewolf says:

I will never read books 3 & 4 of the Twilight series. I will also very likely never read book 2, but books 3 & 4 I KNOW I'll never read.

"The book series I will not be finishing is… Divergent,"

don't be ashamed of not reading the rest of divergent. The second book was SO boring, and the last book was SOOOO boring that i couldn't finish it

  32. The Steam Powered Wife says:

I will only start a new series if it’s completed. I suck at waiting too!

  34. salam gari says:

    when dimple met rishi

  35. Stevie Wanders says:

    Game of Thrones.

I enjoyed the seasons of the show I watched, and while I know there are a few differences here and there between the book and show, I can’t bring myself to sit through such a long ass book when I already know the direction it’s going. Maybe I wouldn’t feel that way if I hadn’t watched some of the show, but I read the first few chapters of the first book and I just couldn’t do it.

  36. Molly Richard says:

It was a fight for me to get through insurgent so I can’t bother with the last one. Divergent was the only good one.

  37. Franco Herrera says:

Ariel, please tell me you have read Frankenstein. It is worth it.

  38. slreads says:

I guess this is kinda cheating, because I read the first book in the series, but I hate The Winner's Kiss trilogy. I just talked about why in my most recent video (which was my worst reads of 2017), but I definitely won't be finishing this series. I definitely won't read 13 Reasons Why either, but that's partially because the suicide scene in the show was too much (even though I know it's different and leSS GRAPHIC in the book).

  39. Adriana Rosales says:

    twilight

  40. Brandon Morland says:

please read frankenstein! i got on a 19th century lit kick and that along with dr. jekyll was one of my favorites

  41. Brandon Morland says:

1/ A really hyped book you're not interested in reading?
    ready player one
    2/ A series you won't start/won't be finishing?
i want to read wheel of time but i just feel i will never get around to it
3/ A classic that you're just not interested in?
paradise lost. tried but i cannot get over the writing style
4/ Any genres you never read?
I really am not digging the memoir movement from people who haven't really done anything
5/ A book on your shelves you'll probably never actually read?
    inherent vice

  42. Angela Dan says:

The latest release in the Harry Potter series..

  43. soulmoonpages says:

I absolutely despise Thirteen reasons why, both the show and the book. It's so triggering and the message is so bad

  44. Vanya Boon says:

Game of Thrones, I'll never ever read it (probably).

  45. Jacob Wilkins says:

I do not like YA and I actually enjoyed 13 Reasons Why! You may enjoy it if you try it.

  46. alessiapu says:

I'm so late at this but I just wanted to say I read Frankenstein few weeks ago and I really REALLY hated it. I studied it before reading it and I was so hyped because it sounded really interesting and but, when I read it and was soo disappointed. I'd like to explain why but it would take me years ahaha

  47. highonlollypops says:

Twilight – couldn't make it past the first chapter of book one…

  48. Light 7 says:

If it's an anthology of seasonal short stories, why not just read one every winter?

  49. Kristin Clark says:

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I read the first one and was so unimpressed. It turned me off to the whole series.

  50. TravellingShoes says:

I'm not usually the best with oldschool books but Frankenstein is really brilliant.

  51. Mina Meme says:

What exactly is the difference between supernatural and fantasy? Is there one and could somebody please explain 😁

  52. Arcane-Hybrid says:

mines would be 50 shades of Grey, Dracula( i've read it before but I didn't like), the genre I wouldn't read is romance

  53. Madi Kanoute says:

Never gonna finish the throne or glass series!!! Only read the first book but despite the hype I’m never touching them

  54. Twenty øne Phans says:

A Court of Mist and Fury is WAY too hyped of a book. the plot was meh for me and it had a looooot of problems

  55. Rae Pooley says:

I'm SO late to this video, but a hyped book I'll probably never read is Turtles All The Way Down D: I'm open to reading it and don't have an issue with it, I love some of John Green's other works, but the synopsis just does not interest me in the slightest, maybe I'm wrong, I just don't see myself reading it any time soon ..

  56. Audrey Raj says:

A series I’m never going to read is The Lord of Rings, I hated the Hobbit.

  57. Emily Victoria says:

Anything Rainbow Rowell has written. I’ve read fangirl and Elenor and park, but I just have no interest in anything else. They were lovely reads, but that’s about as far as it goes for me.

  58. Your Haiku says:

Probably anything by Jodi Piccoult. Super popular author, celebrities love her, and her books are always front and center in Barnes and Noble but I checked out them out on goodreads and couldn’t be less interested. Hunger Games, series I’ll never read. Saw the movies and reaction is “meh”. Genre- YA

  59. Medicine for a Book Hangover says:

I know this is an old video but love it! The book I had on my book shelf for the longest time and never read and now it’s in my unhaul bag is Room, it was hyped years ago and I really wanted to read it so I found it at a used book store and picked it up. While I was doing a bit of organizing I finally decided to unhaul it because I feel like it’s too close to home now that I’m a mom of two little girls. It just makes me ill even thinking about that poor child and their mother in that room that I just can’t grab it. Hope that counts haha

  60. Rookie Rowdie says:

Don't finish divergent. I ploughed through divergent and insurgent, and gave up halfway through allegiant, shouted a bit, felt better, and went to buy 1984. That was the time I decided to read classic dystopian instead of these modern crappy dystopians

  61. Ghost Toast says:

Anything by Cassandra Clare and Sarah J Maas

  62. Tyler L. says:

fifty shades of gray and the lord of the rings series

  63. Book Worm Girl says:

13 Reasons why was she 1-star read for me… a waste of time. The author is an amazing man, but his books aren't for me.

Divergent is great as a stand alone actually.

I don't read romance, New adult, paranormal, high fantasy, science fiction.

  64. Jerry Gundecker says:

Try some Mitchner, Steinbeck, Chrichton, (pronounced cryton).
Books I don't like always lose me in the first ten pages, and they are legion.

  65. Veronica Marie says:

Read. Frankenstein. It was the first classic I ever read for pleasure and it completely made me fall in love with it and with Victorian Gothic literature, seriously it is SO GOOD

  66. Ngọc Minh says:

Games of Throne: Too long to read

  67. snowingonolympus says:

I'm a little late on this, but a hyped book I REALLY don't see myself reading is the A Song of Fire and Ice series. As much as I like the television show, I currently do not have the mental capacity to fit such a complex fantasy world in my brain. Still not caught up on the show, and still do not see myself reading the books.

  68. Megan Dawn says:

Divergent was so good, but the second book made me dislike most of the characters. It went down hill and it's better that you didn't read it.

  69. A says:

  75. Anthony Arevalo says:

    Animal Farm

  76. Manuel Odabashian says:

50 shades of grey is utter rubbish!!! What is it with women that attack men and yet they love this book with what appears to be a man who loves beating women???

  77. Rookie Rowdie says:

Most of 18th century novels were epistolary like Pamela. Even Jane Austen wrote the original drafts of novels in epistolary form.

  78. Brittnie P says:

I read 13 Reasons Why when it came out a very long time ago (11 years ago) and it was one of those books that did not impress me whatsoever and I didn't understand why Netflix made it a show, so more so it is a show I never want to watch! haha On the short story side, I had bought an anthology of fairy tale comics and it really worked out as an excellent, I need to fall asleep soon but I can take 5ish minutes to read something pleasant, situation. 🙂

  79. Michelle Smirnova says:

Honestly I almost feel like you can skip the letters of Frankenstein. I read Frankenstein for a school project and I honesty liked the book a lot, I liked it surprisingly much for it being a classic. I’m not sure if it’s really your cup of tea but I’d still recommend it!

  80. Booklover EXO-L chanyeol's jumbo ears says:

50 shades of grey is the worst book in the world 😣😫🙄

  81. Mayfia says:

    Harry Potter
    The mortal instruments

I know this is an old video but I need to say this because I'm watching it now – I studied Frankenstein last year and it was so GOOD!!!!!!! The letters are tedious and, honestly, not that important, but the rest is AMAZING!!! Easily one of my favourite books!!!

  85. Nutei Renthlei says:

If you still haven't read Frankenstein , just watch Mary Shelley played by Elle Fanning , i am kinda sorta sure you will be hyped up to read it after😊😊

  86. Tine Wordsmith says:

I don't care for the YA genre in general, so probably like 95-98% of all the books in that genre. 😘

  87. Ειρήνη Παπαδοπούλου says:

yeah frankenstein is very slow as a narrative and it needs some patience, but i think its worth it

  88. Katie says:

I can't be arsed to read the Throne of Glass. I've never tried reading the series. Idc.

  89. Shannon Hughes says:

i feel the exact same about waiting for books in a series. by the time the next book comes out i've forgotten most of the details and feel like in order to continue i'd have to reread the book, but i don't always want to, so at this point in my life i'm trying to just read stand alones or completed series bc i know myself

  90. khosrowshahiamirali says:

For me, it's Me before you ,…

  91. kailaniivo says:

A year later after this video went up I'll throw in my two cents, lol. Never say never, but I probably will never touch Hunger Games or Divergent with a ten-foot pole.

  92. The Room Note says:

Most of them probably, I am admittingly weird where I'll watch a movie but not interested in fiction books. If I'm reading, I'm wanting to learn about something.

  93. inael .s says:

50 shades of gray, hunger games, everything everything, to all the boys I loved before

I’m honestly not interested in the casandra Clare books

  96. Jade Carlton says:

Okay but I love the way you say “out”

  97. Sky Patronus says:

Probably Crazy Rich Asians and To All the Boys I've loved Before. Yeah, not really digging it.

  98. Kaite G says:

    Harry Potter and Twilight
