‘Baby-Sitters Club’: Alicia Silverstone, Mark Feuerstein to Star in Netflix’s Reboot | THR News

“Baby-sitters Club!” 90s kids rejoice, because Netflix is bringing back ‘The Baby-Sitters Club,’ and they’ve just found their first two members. The streaming giant has casted Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feuerstein in the live action half hour dramedy, which will be a contemporary take on the beloved worldwide best selling book series by Anne M Martin. The series follows the lives, friendship and babysitting adventures of 5 teens — Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill and Dawn Schafer growing up in Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Casting details on the teens have yet to be announced, however Silverstone is set to play Kristy’s mother Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, and Feuerstein will play Watson Brewer, Kristy’s stepdad. The series, geared for kids, teens and adults, is said to tackle themes of divorce, racism and growing up. The franchise was also hailed by ‘The New Yorker’ back in 2016 as a “feminist legacy.” The books were previously adapted for television in 1990, where it ran for one season on HBO. The comedy then aired on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel. ‘Baby-Sitters Club’ was also later adapted as a feature film in 1995, starring Rachael Leigh Cook among others. Martin initially shared her excitement at the news of a reboot of the series saying, Let’s not forget accountants! My brother was the biggest ‘Baby-Sitters Club’ fan growing up, I think he had a crush on Kristy. Or was it Claudia? Hmm. Anyway, for more casting updates head over to, and until next time for The Hollywood Reporter News I’m Neha Joy. Sorry, Nitin.
